Odyssey of the Seas, launched in 2021, is the second Quantum Ultra-class ship and the first of that class to sail in North America and Europe. With a tonnage of 169,379 GT and length of 1,142 feet, Odyssey can accommodate about 4,198 guests at double occupancy (around 5,498 max passengers). Odyssey takes the popular Quantum-class blueprint and amps it up for resort-style fun: it features a reimagined upper deck with a tropical resort-style pool deck (casitas, hammocks, and a Lime & Coconut bar) and the Sky Pad bungee trampoline dome at the stern. Inside, Odyssey has the largest SeaPlex in the fleet – a sprawling indoor activity space that hosts bumper cars, sports, an arcade, and the first-at-sea Playmakers Sports Bar within the SeaPlex. Guests can enjoy the North Star observation capsule, RipCord skydiving, and Two70 immersive theater with its robotic-screen shows. Odyssey’s entertainment includes the tech-savvy “The Book: Seven Chapters” and Royal Caribbean’s original production The Effectors. As one of the newest ships, Odyssey of the Seas blends thrill and chill in a fresh, colorful package.
Unique features:
Elevated pool deck: Unlike earlier Quantum ships, Odyssey’s top deck has a open layout more akin to Oasis class – with a two-level pool area, vibrant Caribbean theming, and the Lime & Coconut bar. This gives Odyssey a more resort-like sun deck, including a kids’ aqua park (Splashaway Bay) absent on previous Quantum-class ships.
SeaPlex with Playmakers: Odyssey is the first ship to incorporate a full sports bar and arcade (Playmakers) into its SeaPlex complex, allowing guests to grab wings and beer while watching games or playing arcade classics – all inside the multipurpose sports arena. This enhancement makes Odyssey’s SeaPlex an entertainment hub day and night, setting it apart from the rest of the class.
Last major drydock/update: None yet. Odyssey entered service in July 2021 and has had no major refits. Being very new, its next significant drydock is not expected until later in the 2020s. Only routine maintenance has been performed so far.
