Spectrum of the Seas, launched in 2019, is the first Quantum Ultra-class ship (a sub-class of Quantum tailored for Asia). It is about 169,379 GT and 1,139 feet long, with capacity for 4,246 guests at double occupancy and up to 5,622 passengers maximum. Spectrum was purpose-built for the Asian market, featuring amenities and accommodations to suit that clientele. The ship includes Royal Caribbean’s hallmark Quantum-class features like the North Star observation capsule (a glass pod that rises 300 feet above sea level), the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, and the SeaPlex indoor sports complex with bumper cars. Spectrum also introduced private “Golden Suite” accommodations – an exclusive suites-only enclave with keycard access, its own restaurant and lounge. Dining reflects Asian tastes with venues like Sichuan Red (authentic Chinese cuisine). This ship has a massive two-level Ultimate Family Suite (accommodating up to 11) and was the first in the fleet to feature Star Moment karaoke lounge. Spectrum of the Seas primarily sails in East Asia, offering a blend of futuristic tech and luxury comforts.
Unique features:
Asian market innovations: Unlike her sisters, Spectrum was designed with a “ship within a ship” suites complex – the Suite Club spans decks 13–16 forward, with a private pool and lounge for Golden and Silver suite guests. She also offers additional family-focused suites, including the expansive Ultimate Family Suite. Culturally tailored amenities (like mahjong rooms and full-size karaoke lounge) set Spectrum apart for Asian cruisers.
Quantum-class thrills: Spectrum carries all Quantum-class signature attractions, but with tweaks – for example, it has the Sky Pad VR bungee trampoline on the aft deck (added after launch) and was the first Quantum-class ship to boast Laser Tag as a dedicated event in the SeaPlex. It seamlessly merges high-tech fun (robotic bartenders, virtual reality experiences) with features like North Star and iFly, giving it one of the most diverse activity lineups at sea.
Last major drydock/update: None yet. Spectrum of the Seas has not had a major refurbishment since her April 2019 debut. (The ship was delivered brand new in 2019 and, apart from minor enhancements like the addition of the Sky Pad, has not required any significant drydock work.)
