Launched in 2018, Symphony of the Seas is the fourth Oasis-class vessel. At 228,081 GT, Symphony claimed the title of the world’s largest cruise ship upon debut. She stretches 1,184 feet long and can carry 5,518 guests at double occupancy (approximately 6,680 maximum). Symphony takes the Oasis-class template to new heights with refined amenities: a bigger Boardwalk arcade area, a two-level Ultimate Family Suite (complete with a slide and private game room), and new dining like “Hooked” seafood restaurant. Symphony also features the Playmakers Sports Bar on the Boardwalk and Sugar Beach candy shop, plus Hairspray as its Broadway show (later Flight: Dare to Dream was a headline original production unique to Symphony). Guests enjoy favorites like the Ultimate Abyss slide, trio of water slides, laser tag in the Studio B ice rink, and the AquaTheater’s spectacular high-diving show “HiRO.” Symphony of the Seas epitomizes the ultimate mega-ship vacation with something for everyone.
Unique features:
Ultimate Family Suite: Symphony introduced the one-of-a-kind two-story Ultimate Family Suite, which features an in-room slide, a private cinema/gaming room, and a colorful design tailored for multi-generational families. This suite – sleeping up to 8 – was a first in the fleet, packed with games and even a LEGO wall.
Largest and most varied dining (at launch): Symphony debuted new eateries like Hooked Seafood (specializing in New England-style seafood) and Playmakers sports bar, expanding the culinary and nightlife offerings on Boardwalk. It also offered one of the most expansive arrays of activities at sea, including glow-in-the-dark laser tag and a custom original theater show (Flight) that takes audiences on a journey through aviation history.
Last major drydock/update: None yet. Symphony is relatively new (entered service in April 2018) and has not required a significant refurbishment. The ship received routine maintenance in 2023, but no major upgrades or changes have been made since launch.
